Part 4: WYD2011 Deaf Australian Youth Travelling in Assisi Italy
We visited the remarkable Basilica of St Francis housing the tomb of St Francis. We had a great guided tour through the town and we saw Basilica of St Francis, the beuaitful Church of St Damiano, the Hermitage including the cave and the Chapel of our Lady and finally the Church of St Clare.
A bit more about Saint Francis. He was born as Giovanni Francesco di Bernardone; 1181/1182 – October 3, 1226)[2] was an Italian Catholic friar and preacher. He founded the men’s Franciscan Order, the women’s Order of St. Clare, and the lay Third Order of Saint Francis.
